KOT ADDU, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Aug, 2026) City police arrested a long-absconding proclaimed offender wanted in extortion,attempted murder and robbery cases along with a separate gang involved in street snatchings,officials said Tuesday.
Station House Officer(SHO) City,Zeeshan Sarwar Mirani said Shehzad Chandio,who had evaded arrest for a prolonged period,was taken into custody as part of an ongoing crackdown against anti-social elements in the city.
The SHO said Chandio extorted local traders by sending them written notes and making phone calls demanding money.
Multiple cases of extortion,attempted murder and robbery are registered against him,he added.
Police also recovered two kilograms of hashish from the accused’s possession and registered a separate case against him under Section 9-C of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act,the SHO said.
In a second operation,police arrested members of a “jhapta” gang accused of snatching purses and mobile phones from men and women across the city.
The SHO said the gang members would identify vulnerable targets and snatch their phones and purses before fleeing.
He said police remain committed round the clock to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens.
