LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th Aug, 2026) Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran Tuesday suspended the entire staff of Ghaziabad Police Station, including the station house officer (SHO), over alleged negligence and poor supervision in a case involving the alleged rape of a mentally challenged woman by a police official inside the police station.

According to police, 78 police personnel, including the SHO, two sub-inspectors, eight assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) and other officials, were suspended for failing to discharge their supervisory and administrative responsibilities. The suspended officials also include the front desk staff.

The suspect, identified as Imran, allegedly brought the mentally challenged woman from her home to the police station on a motorcycle and took her into a room, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The suspect had reportedly told the victim’s family that she was wanted in connection with a police case.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said disciplinary action had been taken against the entire police station staff due to inadequate supervision and failure to fulfill administrative responsibilities.

He said every activity taking place within a police station should be within the knowledge of the SHO, adding that negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.

Police said Ali Zaib Dastgir had been appointed as new SHO of Ghaziabad Police Station.
