PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 3rd Aug, 2026) Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday visited Swat to express solidarity with the victims of Sunday’s blast, review the prevailing security situation and reaffirm the provincial government’s resolve to eliminate terrorism.
Accompanied by Special Assistant for Home Tariq Saeed, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah and Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed, the CM first met the families of those martyred in the explosion.
He offered Fateha for the departed souls and conveyed his heartfelt condolences, assuring the bereaved families that their sacrifices would never be forgotten.
He later visited Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital, where he inquired after the injured and directed hospital authorities to provide them with the best available medical treatment without any delay or negligence.
During the visit, Afridi also chaired a high-level meeting to review the law and order situation in Swat. Senior officials briefed him on the blast, the ongoing security operations and measures being taken to prevent such incidents.
Addressing the meeting, the CM said the sacrifices of KP Police and innocent civilians in the fight against terrorism would not go in vain.
He emphasized that lasting peace could only be achieved through unity among the public, security forces and all political and religious stakeholders.
He said the government was determined to eliminate terrorism from its roots and would continue extending every possible support to the police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
He added that Rs20 billion had been allocated to strengthen the operational capacity of the provincial police, describing the force as courageous, professional and fully committed to defending the people.
The CM reaffirmed that the provincial government would continue implementing its security policy to restore peace across KP, expressing confidence that the fiscal year 2026-27 would mark a new era of peace, development and prosperity for the province.
