The court took up a petition challenging notification issued for additional toll collection from vehicles without M-tags
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-August 3rd, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has extended its interim relief against the collection of a 50% surcharge on toll fees from vehicles that do not have an M-Tag or have insufficient funds in their M-Tag accounts.
The court took up a petition challenging the notification issued for the additional toll collection.
During the hearing, the National Highway Authority (NHA) submitted its written response to the case.
The petitioner’s lawyer told the court that the NHA’s response had been handed over but he had not yet been able to examine its contents.
NHA’s counsel informed the court that another petition involving a similar issue was also pending and requested that both matters be heard together.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir observer that the court was aware of the other case but clarified that the two petitions were being dealt with separately.
The IHC subsequently prolonged its earlier directive preventing the NHA from imposing the additional 50% toll charge on motorists travelling without an M-Tag or with an inadequate balance.
