ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd Aug, 2026) Coordinator to the Prime Minister Ikhtiar Wali Khan on Sunday said that elections should not be made controversial, adding that the same Election Commission was responsible for conducting elections in both Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK.
He questioned the logic of accepting the Commission’s role in one election while rejecting it in another.
While talking to a private news channel, he said governments come and go through the democratic process and saying that Pakistan had faced serious economic challenges in the past, including concerns about a possible default.
However, he said, the PML-N had overcome those difficulties and was now moving the country towards economic stability and development.
He also said national institutions should not be made controversial for political purposes.
He stressed the need for reforms based on broad public consensus to strengthen democratic and governance structures in the country.
