MIRPUR (AJK) , (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news – 2nd Aug, 2026) Chief Election Commissioner of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Justice (R) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, has said that polling was held peacefully in eight out of all 09 elecoral Constituencies of Muzaffarabad Division, except LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I, where polling was postponed due to heavy rainfall and landslides.
Speaking to the media during visits to various polling stations in Muzaffarabad on Sunday accompanied by Senior Member Election Commission Khawaja Muhammad Ahsan, Member Election Commission Syed Nazir-ul-Hassan Gilani, and Secretary Election Commission Raja Muhammad Shakeel Khan, the Chief Election Commissioner announced that polling in LA-27 Muzaffarabad-I will now be held on August 4.
He said polling was proceeded as scheduled in all other constituencies of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while voting has also started on time in the 12 constituencies reserved for Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan.
Justice (R) Mughal stated that, so far, no untoward incident has been reported from any polling station, reflecting the peaceful conduct of the electoral process.
Describing voting as both a national and religious responsibility, he urged voters to come out in large numbers and exercise their democratic right by casting their votes for the candidates of their choice.
“The power of the vote is the only legitimate means of bringing about change, not violence,” he said, adding that democracy can only be strengthened through public participation in the electoral process.
The Chief Election Commissioner also reviewed polling arrangements at various stations and expressed satisfaction over the overall management and conduct of the voting process.
