PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st Aug, 2026) Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah on Saturday inspected mega water supply project serving Rehmanabad and Shakardara in Kohat’s Lachi Tehsil directing the officials to finalize a comprehensive security plan within two days to safeguard the strategic public infrastructure.
He was accompanied by senior officials, engineers and technical experts. He inspected pumping stations, main transmission pipeline, solar power system and other key installations.
He directed authorities concerned to submit finalized security proposals to provincial government within 48 hours to ensure uninterrupted water supply and protect the project from potential threats.
He was told that project was completed in 2025 with a cost of Rs.2.15 billion and it is powered entirely by a 2.6-Megawatt Solar Energy System. It comprises 14 Tube Wells, 14 Water Storage Tanks, a 67 KM main pipeline and a 160.3 KM distribution network.
The scheme supplies around 546,000 gallons of safe drinking water daily to nearly 77,000 residents while also providing a reliable water source for livestock, significantly easing the long standing issue of drinking water shortage in the region.
