ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 31st Jul, 2026) Heavy rainfall in the Federal capital has pushed the water level in Rawal Dam to 1,748.30 feet, prompting authorities to announce that the dam’s spillways will be opened at 6:00 am on Saturday.
The district administration has placed relevant departments on alert and directed them to ensure a timely response to any developing situation.
According to the district administration, continuous rain in the federal capital has led to a rise in water inflows into Rawal Dam, resulting in an increase in the reservoir’s water level. Officials said the dam reached 1,748.30 feet, leading authorities to decide on the controlled opening of spillways on Saturday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has instructed all concerned departments and emergency response agencies to remain vigilant and maintain close coordination. The administration has also directed field teams to monitor conditions in vulnerable areas and stay prepared for any emergency.
The district administration has urged residents to take precautionary measures and avoid visiting streams, nullahs, and areas where floodwater may accumulate. Citizens have been advised not to go near waterways or attempt to cross flooded routes during the current weather conditions.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities and follow official safety instructions issued through government channels. Residents living near watercourses have been asked to remain informed about updates related to rainfall and water discharge from the dam.
