LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Jul, 2026) The School education Department (SED) has decided to close 555 more government schools and merge them with nearby high or elementary schools.
According to sources, these schools will be merged with nearby high or elementary schools.
According to sources, all these schools are located within a distance of 2 kilometers from another government school, while the number of students in them is less than 5 and 3.3 teachers are posted in each school.
The School Education Department says that despite outsourcing, the number of students in these schools has not increased. After the merger of these schools, the total number of government schools across Punjab will be 37,000. According to the department, 13,000 government schools have been given on contract so far.
