BAHAWALPUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Jul, 2026) Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Irfan Ali Kathia visited various sections of Circular Road to review sanitation, drainage, sewerage, and civic facilities, directing the relevant departments to accelerate ongoing rehabilitation works and ensure prompt resolution of public issues. During the visit, the commissioner inspected ongoing development and restoration activities and instructed officials to utilize all available resources to address civic problems effectively and provide maximum relief to residents and traders. Commissioner reviewed measures taken by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) for the disposal of rainwater and sewage and inspected the rehabilitation of sewerage lines. He directed WASA to ensure uninterrupted drainage operations across the city to prevent inconvenience to commuters and residents.
The commissioner also received a detailed briefing from the Managing Director of the Suthra Punjab programme on the ongoing cleanliness campaign. He instructed officials to further improve the pace and effectiveness of sanitation operations, ensure higher cleanliness standards across all localities, and guarantee the timely disposal of waste according to the prescribed schedule.
During the inspection, Kathia ordered the immediate repair and thorough cleaning of drains along Circular Road to maintain the smooth flow of sewerage and provide a healthier environment for the public. He emphasized that deficiencies in civic infrastructure should be addressed on a priority basis.
The commissioner also directed the immediate resolution of administrative and operational issues relating to WASA and the Bahawalpur Waste Management Company. He stressed that all relevant departments should work in close coordination to improve municipal service delivery and maximize public relief. He said providing prompt relief to shopkeepers and residents of Circular Road remained a top priority and instructed all departments to expedite the ongoing works so that citizens could benefit from a cleaner, safer, and more convenient urban environment.
