PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 28th Jul, 2026) The Malakand Division administration has stepped up preparations for the Commissioner Malakand Cricket Tournament, with officials describing the event as an initiative to encourage youth participation in sports, promote tourism and highlight the region’s peaceful environment.
A planning meeting, chaired by Commissioner Malakand Masood Ahmad at the Commissioner Office in Saidu Sharif, reviewed arrangements for the divisional-level tournament, which will feature champion teams from all districts of the division.
The commissioner said the tournament would provide a healthy recreational platform for young people while projecting a positive image of Swat and the entire Malakand Division.
He expressed hope that the event would also attract cricket enthusiasts from across the region and contribute to promoting local tourism.
Officials were informed that district-level competitions had been completed and the winning teams would compete in the divisional tournament beginning in August. The final is scheduled to be played on August 14 at the historic Grassy Ground in Swat.
The meeting also discussed security, logistics, publicity and coordination among participating departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
Commissioner Masood Ahmad directed all stakeholders to make comprehensive arrangements for the tournament and instructed the district police to implement an effective security plan for players, officials and spectators.
He also ordered a wide publicity campaign through electronic and social media, while directing local government authorities to promote the tournament with banners and signboards to maximise public participation and showcase the region’s hospitality.
