According to preliminary data, the S&P 500 rose by 17.07 points, or 0.23%, to 7430.25 points.
The Nasdaq Composite fell 58.88 points, or 0.24%, to 24873.20 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 546.61 points, or 1.05%, to 52756.69 points.
