14 Cities submit bids to host ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 across Australia, New Zealand

Australia and New Zealand are scheduled to jointly host the competition, which is expected to be held in October and November 2028

MELBOURNE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-July 27th, 2026) Fourteen cities from Australia and New Zealand have expressed interest in hosting matches during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028, with organisers set to shortlist between eight and ten venues for the tournament.

Australia and New Zealand are scheduled to jointly host the competition, which is expected to be held in October and November 2028.

Tournament organisers had invited bids from potential host cities across both countries, receiving proposals from a total of 14 cities. However, only eight to ten cities are expected to be selected, leaving several applicants without hosting rights.

The final selection will be made in accordance with ICC venue guidelines, with organisers aiming to strike a balance between providing widespread access and maintaining operational efficiency. Limiting the number of host cities is expected to simplify logistics, scheduling, and tournament management across the two nations.

A reduced number of venues would also help minimise travel for participating teams and supporters, making the tournament more convenient for everyone involved.

According to the reports, the Melbourne cricket Ground (MCG) is the leading candidate to host the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028.
