LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th May, 2026) The enforcement teams of Punjab Food Authority (PFA) conducted a crackdown on food law violators in Ferozepur Road, Khokhar Town, and surrounding areas, inspected four food points, sealed three units and imposed Rs. 100,000 fine on one outlet.
The teams discarded expired food items and substandard oil. PFA DG Musa Raza said that food items were being stored in fungus-infected and foul-smelling freezers, while contaminated water was found accumulated on broken floors. He said action was taken over poor hygiene conditions and insect infestation. He said that mandatory purchase and oil change records were not available during inspection.
He said that expiry dates were missing on stored chocolates and other food products, while employees lacked mandatory medical and training certificates. Violations of previously issued instructions were also observed, including poor staff hygiene and cigarette remains in the processing area.
He said that medical certificates and food safety training are mandatory for operating food businesses. He has requested food business operators to strictly comply with Punjab Food Authority laws to ensure provision of nutritious and safe food.
DG PFA further stated that strict action will continue against businesses operating in violation of food safety regulations across Punjab.
