KOHAT, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th May, 2026) The security forces said they had foiled a suicide attack near the border of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces, killing the attacker before he could reach a security checkpoint.
The official sources said the bomber drove an explosives-laden vehicle towards the Mankur check post, a key installation overseeing movement between the two provinces.
The security personnel opened fire after identifying the vehicle as suspicious, triggering a premature explosion.
One civilian, identified as Liaquat, was killed in the blast, according to local authorities.
They said the quick response by forces stationed at the checkpoint had prevented what could have been a much larger attack.
“The personnel engaged the vehicle before it could reach the main compound, preventing heavy casualties,” the sources said.
The police and security forces sealed off the area after the explosion and launched a search operation in nearby mountainous terrain amid concerns that other militants could be present.
