QUETTA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th May, 2026) The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Regional Office in Kalat has embarked on a significant educational journey by introducing online education classes under its distance learning system. As part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme, laptops were distributed among students from nine districts of Balochistan, marking a step forward in equipping youth with modern digital tools.
A formal ceremony was held at the AIOU Regional Office in Kalat, where Additional Deputy Commissioner Shah Nawaz Baloch and Deputy Regional Director AIOU Haml Baloch distributed laptops to students, said a news release.
Addressing the gathering, both officials praised the initiative, describing it as a revolutionary effort to connect the younger generation with technology, research, and modern education.
They highlighted that the scheme aims not only to provide access to education but also to empower students with independence, confidence, and digital skills.
“Today’s era belongs to knowledge, research, and information technology. Nations that equip their youth with modern sciences and technology achieve progress and prosperity,” they remarked.
Officials noted that 26 students from nine districts of Balochistan received laptops during the ceremony.
They emphasized that Balochistan’s youth are highly talented, and with proper opportunities and resources, they can excel in every field of life. The scheme, they added, reflects the vision of Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan and Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who are committed to youth welfare, education, and development.
Students were urged to use the laptops for constructive and educational purposes, focusing on learning and research rather than unnecessary social media activities.
The initiative is expected to enhance digital literacy, strengthen academic research, and prepare Balochistan’s youth to meet the challenges of the modern world.
