GILGIT, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th May, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met with Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah and Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (Retd) Yar Muhammad, as he arrived here on a day-long visit to inaugurate multiple development projects.
In the separate meetings with the prime minister, the governor and chief minister discussed the progress of ongoing development projects in Gilgit-Baltistan, the law and order situation, and other administrative matters.
Earlier, as the prime minister arrived here, he was received by Governor Syed Mehdi Shah and Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (Retd) Yar Muhammad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz is accompanied by Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Attaullah Tarar, Engineer Amir Muqam, Abdul Aleem Khan, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Advisor to PM Rana Sanaullah, and Special Assistant Talha Burki.
During the visit, the prime minister will inaugurate solar power and Safe City projects, the laptop scheme, and the youth business and agriculture loan scheme for Gilgit-Baltistan.
He will also lay the foundation stone for four Daanish Schools in the region.
