Commissioner Karachi Attends Flag Hoisting To Observe Anniversary Of Marka-e-Haq


KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th May, 2026) Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Thursday performed a flag-hoisting in a ceremony at the office of Deputy Commissioner Keamari here in connection with the first anniversary of “Marka-e-Haq” (Bunyan Al-Marsous) and victory celebration events.

Among others, the ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner Keamari Ameer Fazal Oaisi, all Assistant Commissioners, other staff members, and officers of Town Municipal Administrations.

The Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi also chaired a meeting to review the work of civic facilities in the district Keamari.

It was decided in the meeting to remove obstacles and delays in the completion of certain urgent nature projects, and that priority measures will be taken to complete projects of immediate nature.

In the meeting, officers of all Town Municipal Administrations briefed about the pace of ongoing work on projects in their respective towns and the performance of property tax recovery.

The meeting was attended among others by the Deputy Commissioner Keamari Ameer Fazal Oaisi, all Assistant Commissioners and Additional Deputy Commissioners of the district, Director Development & Planning Commissioner Karachi Naseem Bhutto, and officers from Town Municipal Administrations, KMC, and KDA.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of recovery of property tax in all towns. Various towns informed the Commissioner about difficulties in tax recovery.

It was decided that all towns will raise public awareness about the importance of tax payment to improve property tax collection and will launch awareness campaigns for tax payment.

It was decided that towns will issue tax recovery notices to defaulters who have not paid dues and will ensure that citizens receive those notices.

However, notices will be pasted on the properties of those not available to receive them.

The Commissioner strictly directed that no citizen will be harassed for tax collection .

The meeting also considered addressing complaints of delays in the completion of urgent improvement and civic facility projects under Town Municipal Administrations, KDA, and KMC.

It was decided that urgent nature projects will not be included in annual development plans, as their inclusion in general annual development projects can cause unnecessary delays in small town projects.

It was decided that all Deputy Commissioners will hold meetings with towns in their respective districts to review the causes of delays in these urgent nature work/project and will assist in removing obstacles causing delays, taking necessary measures.

The meeting also reviewed efforts for supply of drinking water through RO plants. The meeting was informed that eight RO plants have been installed in the district with the cooperation of the Water and Sewerage Corporation, out of which seven are functional.

One RO plant installed at Baba Island is non-functional due to a technical fault. According to details, the functional plants are installed at 500 Quarters Star Ground, Musharraf Colony, Hawks Bay, Younusabad, Grex Colony, Mowach Goth, and Bandhani Goth, and are fully operational.

The Commissioner directed Deputy Commissioner Keamari to take immediate steps to make the RO plant at Baba Island functional.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner directed all Deputy Commissioners to review the performance of RO plants installed in their respective districts and ensure that all RO plants are fully functional and citizens benefiting from them do not face difficulty in obtaining water.
