BEIJING, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th May, 2026) A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed here yesterday among China Shandong Tongshan Group, Riphah International University (RIU) from Pakistan, and the China Pakistan Medical Association (CPMA), marking a step forward in cross-border medical education, research and healthcare collaboration.
The MoU was signed by Li Xiao, Chairman of China Shandong Tongshan Group; Hassan Muhammad Khan, Chancellor of RIU; and Dr Muhammad Shahbaz, President of CPMA.
The three signatories recognized the shared importance of mutual cooperation in advancing medical education, research, healthcare services and international collaboration.
Under the MoU, the primary objectives include promoting academic and professional collaboration in medical and health sciences, facilitating joint initiatives in medical tourism between China and Pakistan, developing capacity building programs through education, training and research, encouraging technology transfer and innovation in healthcare system, and strengthening bilateral relations through institutional partnerships, CEN reported on Wednesday.
As part of the agreement, the three parties will explore the establishment of an international campus of RIU in China, focusing on medical education, joint degree programs and research collaboration.
In parallel, the MoU provides for the establishment of a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Academy at Riphah International University in Pakistan. The academy will be designed to align with World Health Organization (WHO) standards and accreditation frameworks, with a strong emphasis on promoting integrative medicine that combines TCM with modern medical practices.
