SUKKUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th May, 2026) The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Wednesday formally launched the feasibility study, master planning, and detailed design services for the long-anticipated Greenfield Airport Sukkur.
According to the details, the kick-off meeting, held in Sukkur, brought together senior government officials, aviation stakeholders, business leaders, and representatives of the Sukkur District Administration to formally set the project in motion.
The PAA has contracted M2P German, and Leit- Werk, one of the world’s most distinguished aviation consultancy firms, in joint venture with local partners Indus Associated Consultants and Cosmic Engineering consultant, to lead the feasibility, master planning, and detailed design phases of the project.
The signing of this contract signals the official commencement of what is being described as a transformative initiative for the region.
The PAA delegation was led by Director General (DG), Air Vice Zeeshan Saeed and Deputy DG Engr Sumair Saeed, accompanied by the Director Planning & Development, Director Finance, Additional Director Planning & Development, and other key officials.
During the meeting, the consulting team presented a comprehensive work plan detailing the roadmap across all three project phases – feasibility study, master planning, and engineering design, followed by an interactive session and questions and answers.
Speaking at the event, PAA top officials described the proposed new airport near Tando Masti, Khairpur district as a catalyst for economic growth, trade, tourism, and employment generation across the northern Sindh. The facility, once realised, is expected to significantly boost regional connectivity and position Sukkur as a major aviation hub.
Divisional Commissioner Sukkur Abid Saleem, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur, Officers of the Rangers, Police, Customs, Airport Security Force, representatives of academia, Chamber of Commerce, Khairpur Economic Zone, notables and Mediapersons attended the meeting.
