PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th May, 2026) Senior leader of the Awami National Party Asfandyar Wali Khan has expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Maulana Idris, calling it an irreparable loss for the Pashtun nation.
In his statement on Wednesday, Asfandyar Wali Khan said that Maulana Idris was a moderate, dignified, peace-loving and highly respected religious and social personality who dedicated his life to religion, education and public service.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, students and members of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, praying that Allah grants the deceased a high place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and gives patience to the family.
The ANP leader further stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is once again facing threats of insecurity, target killings and terrorism.
He demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing of Maulana Idris and called for a transparent and swift investigation. He also urged the authorities to ensure lasting peace in the province and take serious, practical steps to eliminate the menace terrorism.
