The University of Karachi (KU) and the National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) inked the memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the KU’s Vice Chancellor Secretariat on Tuesday
KARACHI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 5th May, 2026) The University of Karachi (KU) and the National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) inked the memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the KU’s Vice Chancellor Secretariat on Tuesday.
As per the MoU, the KU in collaboration with the NHMP will establish a Road Safety Society on the campus, aiming to engage students, faculty, and employees in awareness campaigns, research, and advocacy for safe road usage.
This MoU will help in educating students about traffic rules and safe driving practices. Both parties will organize seminars and workshops to create awareness.
The KU and the NHMP believe that this MoU would encourage student participation in road safety initiatives. Both parties hope that it would help in reducing road accidents through awareness and training and joint research could be conducted on traffic behavior, engineering solutions and policy recommendations.
Registrar KU Professor Dr Imran Ahmad Siddiqui and Superintendent of Police, Sector-IV, Karachi, NHMP Sajjad Hussain Bhatti signed the MoU documents.
KU’s Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Dr Samina Saeed, Dean of Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences Professor Dr Zaeema Israr Mohiuddin, Director of Postgraduate Directorate Professor Dr Anila Amber Malik, Campus Security Advisor Dr Salman Zubair, Students’ Advisor Dr Nosheen Raza, Director of Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization Dr Syeda Hoor ul Ain and team ORIC, CPO Ahmed Hussain Siddique, SPO Syed Umer Bin Tafazzul, SPO Javeed Zadi, SPO Khalid Memon, Samrah Rasheed, Muniba Javeed and others was present on this occasion.
