ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-May 4th, 2026) Singapore has retained its position as the world’s most powerful passport, while Pakistan has been ranked the fourth weakest globally, according to the latest report by the Henley Passport Index.
The ranking shows that Singaporean passport holders can travel to 192 countries without requiring a visa, the highest level of access worldwide. Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates jointly secured the second position, with visa-free access to 187 destinations.
Norway and Switzerland followed, offering access to 185 countries. The report highlighted that European nations continue to dominate the rankings, with the European Union averaging visa-free travel to 183 countries, comparable to Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
On the other end of the index, Afghanistan was ranked as the weakest passport, allowing entry to only 23 countries without a visa. Syria placed second from the bottom, followed by Iraq, while Pakistan ranked fourth among the weakest passports.
The report noted that countries with lower-ranking passports often face challenges such as political instability, conflict and rising migration pressures, which impact global travel access for their citizens.
