DC Larkana Meeting With Secretary Of Agriculture

LARKANA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 4th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Tariq Manzoor Chandio, held a detailed meeting with the Secretary of Agriculture, Supply and Price Department, Government of Sindh, Muhammad Zaman Narejo, in his office on Monday.

During the meeting, both officers reviewed the pre-feasibility report of the scheme for establishing a new vegetable market in Larkana. A detailed discussion was held on the project’s agenda for approval in the upcoming meeting of the(PDWP).

Briefing the Secretary, the Deputy Commissioner said that the current vegetable market is located in the city center of Larkana, which causes traffic gridlock and citizens face difficulties due to sanitation issues. In the proposed project, it is envisioned to relocate the vegetable market to a new 50-acre site outside the city.

Key features of the new vegetable market include auction halls, covered platforms, cold storage, ripening chambers, and temperature control facilities. Top priorities will be improving traffic management, constructing wide roads, designated parking for trucks/loading vehicles, and separate entry/exit gates to avoid congestion.

He said that to provide public amenities, a mosque, canteen, bank, rest areas for farmers/traders, washrooms, and a solid waste management system will be established.

He stated that to ensure transparency through digital integration, electronic weighing, digital price display boards, and an online auction system will be implemented.

Keeping the environment in view, a green belt and a proper drainage system will be established to maintain health standards.

Secretary of Agriculture Muhammad Zaman Narejo assured that the department is moving this scheme forward on a priority basis. The project will be presented before the PDWP for approval during this month.

Once approved, it will be reflected as a full development scheme in the next budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 for implementation.

The Deputy Commissioner of Larkana said that the relocation of the vegetable market is a long-standing demand of the citizens, traders, and farmers of Larkana.

The new market will not only provide relief to the city but also provide farmers with modern marketing facilities, reduce post-harvest losses, and ensure fair prices for both producers and consumers.

He thanking the Secretary of Agriculture for his support, he expressed hope that this project will be approved and implemented swiftly in the wider public interest.
