LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 2nd May, 2026) Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that, in line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab, vigorous steps are being taken to establish lasting peace across the province.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting with a delegation of the Central Ulema Council of Pakistan at the Home Department on Saturday. The meeting reviewed the overall situation of inter-Muslim unity and law and order.
Welcoming the delegation, the minister said that the integrity and stability of Pakistan remain the top priority. He added that the Home Department is actively working on arrangements related to Muharram-ul-Haram, emphasizing that scholars from all schools of thought are demonstrating exemplary unity and tolerance.
He noted that due to the effective strategy of the Punjab government, the situation remained under control during critical moments. He stressed that mutual agreement and unity are essential for sustainable peace in society.
Secretary Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi said that guidance is consistently sought from religious scholars, adding that significant progress has been made in the registration of madrasas. He acknowledged the role of ulema in social reform and stated that all schools of thought are supporting the state in maintaining peace.
Chairman Central Ulema Council Pakistan Maulana Zahid Mahmood Qasmi appreciated the Punjab government’s efforts under the leadership of the Chief Minister for promoting peace, unity, and consensus. He also assured full cooperation from his organization in this regard.
At the conclusion of the meeting, special prayers were offered for the peace and stability of Pakistan and the broader Islamic world.
The delegation was led by Maulana Zahid Mahmood Qasmi and included prominent members of the Central Ulema Council. The meeting was also attended by senior officials of the Home Department, police, Auqaf Department, and other relevant institutions.
