ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 27th, 2026) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday described his recent visit to Islamabad as “very productive,” saying it involved detailed consultations on regional developments and ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The Iran’s state news agency said that the foreign minister said discussions during the visit focused on recent developments and the conditions under which negotiations between Iran and the United States could move forward.
Referring to his visit to Oman, Araghchi said talks were also held on the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that as coastal states of the strait, Iran and Oman must remain in close coordination to ensure safe maritime passage and protect shared interests.
He added that both sides demonstrated strong agreement on key issues and decided to continue consultations at the expert level.
Separately, upon arriving in St Petersburg, Araghchi said his visit aimed to strengthen coordination between Tehran and Moscow on regional and global matters.
He is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin to review the latest developments in ongoing conflicts and discuss the broader geopolitical situation.
The Iranian minister expressed confidence that continued engagement between the two countries would play an important role in addressing evolving regional challenges.
Meanwhile, the normalcy has returned to Islamabad and Rawalpindi after nearly two weeks of disruptions linked to heightened security measures during diplomatic engagements.
