Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 25th Apr, 2026) A dignified ceremony was held at Police Lines in Dera Ismail Khan where senior officials paid tribute to Ghazi police personnel, terming them valuable assets and a source of pride for the district police for their sacrifices in the line of duty.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Ghulam Mubashir Mekan, presided over the event, which was attended by Commissioner Dera Division Daud Khan, Station Commander Brigadier Muhammad Abu Bakar, District Police Officer (DPO) Dera Ziauddin Ahmed, senior police officials, representatives of civil administration, other law enforcement agencies, and Ghazi personnel.
The ceremony began with a visit to the Police Martyrs’ Memorial, where prayers were offered for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs, and floral wreaths were laid.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Ziauddin Ahmed thanked the participants and said that Ghazi police officers had thwarted the nefarious designs of terrorists and played a key role in restoring peace in the region.
He added that despite losing limbs, these officers continued to perform their duties with dedication and commitment, and the nation remained indebted to them.
Addressing the gathering, RPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan said that the entire state saluted the courage and unmatched sacrifices of Ghazi police personnel. He termed their contributions unforgettable and urged them to continue serving with resilience and loyalty. He emphasized that the fight against terrorism could not be won without cooperation between the public and the police, calling for collective efforts to ensure lasting peace.
He further said that recommendations regarding a welfare package for Ghazi personnel had been forwarded to the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, to ensure their proper care and support. “We stand united; your pain is our pain, and the state stands with you,” he added.
Addressing the ceremony, Station Commander Brigadier Muhammad Abu Bakar paid tribute to Ghazi police officers, describing them as a symbol of pride for Pakistan. He said the country had endured numerous wars and conspiracies yet remained strong and resilient. He added that hostile elements sought to harm the nation not through direct conflict but by creating divisions within society. He termed such elements as extremists and emphasized that those who stand against them are true defenders of the country. He called for continued resolve to counter this threat until its complete elimination, ensuring that Pakistan remains strong and prosperous.
Commissioner Daud Khan also addressed the ceremony, saying that the sacrifices of Ghazi officers would be remembered in golden words. He highlighted their unwavering commitment to the nation despite physical hardships and called for unified efforts among the state, security forces, police, and the public to eliminate terrorism. He underscored the importance of timely public cooperation and intelligence-sharing in tackling both internal and external threats.
At the conclusion of the event, the RPO met individually with Ghazi officers, listened to their concerns, and issued on-the-spot directives for resolving their problems.
