The Internet is flooding with revelations regarding declassified UFO files which the Pentagon released on Friday. The responses of the public are mixed.
The move is framed as a “maximum transparency” effort on the government’s knowledge of extraterrestrial life through a new program titled PURSUE (Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters).
But the release of the Pentagon’s latest comprehensive report on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) has ignited a fresh wave of debate across the global scientific community, moving conversation from fringes of conspiracy to the center of inquiry.
Avi Loeb: ‘No extraordinary evidence’
In the scientific community, Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb has always been vocal regarding the existence of extraterrestrial life. In his blog post on Medium, Loeb has addressed the first batch of UAP files containing records from the Department of War, NASA, FBI, and the State Department.
According to the astrophysicist, the initial analysis of these 161 records does not find any “extraordinary” evidence of non-human origins especially in this specific batch.
“Interesting details regarding the videos are unfortunately redacted, and all images could be explained as either reflections in the camera optics or human-made objects,” he wrote.
The declassified files also show photos and transcripts from Apollo 12 and Apollo 17. Transcripts also reveal astronauts describing “jagged angular fragments” and bright particles that appeared to be “tumbling” outside their windows.
According to the Harvard professor, as these Apollo mission images show lights above the surface of the moon, these light sources and bright particles “could be flashes from asteroid impacts or optical artifacts.”
Loeb also posits that the government’s state-of-the-art sensors have likely captured rare anomalies over decades that scientists have not yet seen. He views it as a “civil duty” for scientists to assist the government in analyzing this data.
He also hopes that the best is yet to come in coming weeks, “because higher quality data will take more vetting by layers of government bureaucracy before it is released.”
Luis Elizondo: ‘A historic moment’
Talking to Fox News, Luis Elizondo, the UFO disclosure activist, said, “There is still a lot more to learn about it and the release of files is also a historic moment as after 9 years the American people are getting the small taste of information.”
Elizondo also talked about the pictures taken on lunar surface during1969 Apollo mission and confirmed that these pictures indicate the existence of extraterrestrial beings.
“This is a national security issue and these things can outperform what we have in our inventory. We are pretty sure that this technology is not from Chinese, Russian, and other adversaries,” he said.
Michio Kaku: ‘Turning the tides’
UFO files also sparked reaction from theoretical Physicist Michio Kaku. In an interview with Fox News, Dr Michio said, “the declassification of UFO files proves that we are at a turning point.”
Talking about the flying saucer shown in images, Michio Kaku said, “the flying saucer could be some high form of intelligence who created this object. Humans cannot get into this kind of spaceship that goes zigzag, only aliens can.”
The next step is “close encounters of the second kind, that would hopefully be non-humans in origin” , the theoretical physicist says.
The UFO files also highlight FBI photos from New Year’s Eve 1999, demonstrating UAPs in the same airspace as the US aircraft.
