Proposals To Revive Film,cinema Industry Discussed


MULTAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th May, 2026) Government Punjab has accelerated efforts to revive the country’s film industry through the establishment of a Film City project,here on Saturday.

A key meeting with cinema owners was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Aamir Karim Khan.

Speaking on the occasion,the commissioner said the provincial government aims to help the national film industry stand on its own feet through grants,financial support and policy reforms.

He termed the Film City project a milestone for the revival of Pakistan’s cinema industry and said special funds for filmmakers would also create employment opportunities.

Participants stressed the need to provide quality and affordable entertainment to the public and proposed a 75 percent electricity subsidy for cinemas across Punjab,easy-installment solar systems and generators for cinema owners and reduced ticket prices.

The meeting also recommended launching a one-window operation for easier issuance of NOCs related to film and cinema projects,preparing special software for digital film screening,offering tax incentives for the cinema sector and formulating a national film policy.

Cinema owners pledged full cooperation with the government for the restoration and promotion of the film industry.
