SARGODHA, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th May, 2026) The Scrutiny Committee, constituted by the Commissioner Sargodha Division, has forwarded the name of the late Professor Dr Haroon-ur-Rasheed Tabassum to the government for conferment of a civil award in recognition of his outstanding academic, literary and social services.
The committee met on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner Coordination Ashfaq-ur-Rehman. Director Information Naeem Malik, Professor Dr Shafiq Asif and renowned writer and poet Mumtaz Arif also attended the meeting, says a press release issued here.
The committee was informed that late Professor Dr Haroon-ur-Rasheed Tabassum rendered 34 years of service in the education sector and authored more than 200 books.
His literary contributions included three award-winning books on Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) at the national and provincial levels.
He also wrote 39 books on Iqbal studies.
The meeting was further informed that Dr Tabassum also served as Chief Warden of Civil Defence and played an active role in public service. Besides hosting several prestigious national-level events, he remained associated with Radio Pakistan for around 20 years as host of the programme “Danish Kadah.”
After reviewing his contributions, the committee recommended to the Government of Pakistan that late Professor Dr Haroon-ur-Rasheed Tabassum be awarded a posthumous civil award for his remarkable public, literary and social services.
