KHANEWAL, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 6th May, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday foiled an attempt to manufacture substandard bakery products using rotten and insect-infested eggs in Jahanian.
According to details,PFA food safety teams conducted a raid in the Jalalabad area,where they recovered a large quantity of hazardous and unhygienic raw material from a local bakery.
During the operation, officials seized and destroyed around 5000 spoiled and insect infested eggs along with 220-kgs of egg yolk.
The contaminated stock was reportedly intended for use in cakes, pastries and rusks for supply to the market.
PFA Director General(DG),Syed Moazzam Raza termed the use of such unsafe ingredients a serious violation of food safety laws.
He said the bakery’s production unit had been sealed until further orders while an FIR was also registered against the owner.
He reiterated that action against food adulteration would continue,adding that there would be no compromise on public health.
