PM’s Apna Ghar Programme Widely Welcomed In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st May, 2026) People from various walks of life in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday welcomed the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme, terming it a landmark initiative aimed at providing affordable housing to low-income segments of society.

A retired government servant, Misal Khan, praised Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for launching the five-year housing scheme worth Rs 3.2 trillion, which seeks to support the construction of 500,000 homes across the country.

He said the initiative has brought hope to low-income citizens who lack the financial resources to build their own houses, adding that it would not only facilitate home ownership but also generate employment and stimulate economic activity.

“The programme will benefit labourers, painters, marble owners, engineers, electricians and other segments of the workforce, while also boosting allied industries,” he added.

The people of all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, will be benefited.

Sahibzada Hamza Khan, President of PML-N Nowshera, described the programme as historic.

He said the government has set a target to finance 50,000 houses in the first year, with an allocation of Rs 321 billion.

Over five years, he said, the programme aims to fund 500,000 housing units with a total outlay of Rs 3.2 trillion.

He further explained that the scheme offers a 20-year repayment plan, with a 5 percent markup for the first ten years, after which the applicable market rate will be charged.

Under the programme, loans of up to Rs 10 million will be provided on easy terms, enabling eligible applicants to construct houses on plots of up to 10 marlas.

Farmer Fazle Rabi, labourer Irshad Ali and teacher Riaz Khan also welcomed the PM Apna Ghar program and termed it revolutionary.
