SIALKOT, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 30th Apr, 2026) A highly significant and productive meeting was held at Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) to promote linkages between industry and academia.
The meeting was chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shazia Bashir in her office. Distinguished leadership from the Women Chamber of Commerce Sialkot also participated, including Dr. Maryam Siddiqua (President), Mrs. Gulzaib Waqas Awan (Senior Vice President), and Ms. Rubina Naveed (Vice President).
During the meeting, detailed and meaningful discussions were held on key areas such as strengthening practical collaboration between industry and educational institutions, aligning students with market needs, and developing a skilled workforce.
Both sides fully agreed that strong collaboration between academia and industry is essential to meet the demands of the modern era.
To achieve this, joint strategies will be developed with short-term, medium-term, and long-term planning.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shazia Bashir said that success in the 21st century depends not only on degrees but also on skills, vision, and practical experience. She reaffirmed her commitment that GC Women University Sialkot will not only provide quality education to its students but also create opportunities that enable them to play an active role in industrial development, entrepreneurship, and the national economy. She further stated that the university is being transformed into a platform where a true integration of knowledge and industry can be witnessed.
The meeting also considered promoting internships, industry visits, mentorship programs, and joint research projects for students, so they can be directly connected with the practical world. The leadership of the Women Chamber of Commerce assured their full cooperation in this regard and expressed readiness to share their experience and resources with academia.
