PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 28th Apr, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police carried out 1,087 intelligence-based operations against terrorists of Fitna Al-Khawarij during the first three months of the current year, according to the department’s performance report.
The report stated that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested 283 terrorists and killed 108 terrorists and proclaimed offenders during successful operations across the province.
Among the arrested militants were three highly important commanders and one female suicide bomber, highlighting the department’s intensified counterterrorism efforts.
During the same period, police faced 194 terrorist attacks, of which 106 were successfully repelled through effective strategy, fortification and the use of modern gadgets.
CTD also recovered a large cache of arms and explosives, including 24 SMGs, 55 hand grenades, 21 pistols, one suicide jacket, over 1,700 kilograms of explosives and explosive material, along with hundreds of cartridges of various calibers.
The report said 59 police officers embraced martyrdom in the line of duty during the last three months, while 88 personnel were injured.
In anti-narcotics operations across the province, 7,771 FIRs were registered and 7,751 accused were arrested. Police recovered 5,695 kilograms of charas, 275 kilograms of opium, 210 kilograms of heroin, 847 kilograms of ice, and 22,124 liters of liquor stored in 762 bottles and drums.
A total of 5,528 proclaimed offenders were arrested, while 66 were killed in police encounters during the same period.
Police Facilitation Centers established across the province provided various public services, including 67,543 visa verifications, 23,009 local verifications, 3,046 foreign country verifications, 4,627 tenant verifications, and assistance in 8,724 missing item cases. Work is also underway to expand these centers to tehsil level.
The report further stated that the Safe City Project in Peshawar, launched at a cost of Rs2.23 billion, has been formally inaugurated and will ensure automatic surveillance and prompt arrest of criminals through 711 modern cameras.
Under the National Action Plan, more than 6,684 search and strike operations were conducted, resulting in the arrest of 21,531 suspects, while 43,221 suspects were detained during 22,028 snap checking operations.
Through Police Welfare, 2,037 cases were resolved and cheques worth Rs132 million were distributed under different heads this year.
Similarly, under the Police Access Service (PAS), 3,165 applications were received, of which 2,195 were resolved, while 970 remain under process.
Inspector General of Police said anti-state elements and criminals would be dealt with firmly under the law, adding that no disruption to peace in the province would be tolerated and public safety and doorstep services would be ensured at all costs.
