However, no immediate reports of any major loss of life or property damage have been received

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 27th, 2026) Tremors were felt in the Federal capital and several cities across Pakistan on Monday, causing panic among residents who rushed out of homes and offices.

The latest reports suggested that the earthquake was experienced in Islamabad as well as in multiple districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mardan, Shangla, Buner and Swat. Tremors were also reported from Nathia Gali.

The initial reports suggest that the tremors lasted for several seconds. However, no immediate reports of any major loss of life or property damage have been received.

According to the seismic monitoring centre, the earthquake struck at 11:46am on April 27, 2026, with a magnitude of 5.

7 and a depth of approximately 170 kilometres.

The epicentre was located in the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, while tremors were widely felt in Islamabad and surrounding areas, including Swat, Shangla and Buner.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department stated that due to the earthquake’s considerable depth, its effects were felt across a wide region, though such deep earthquakes typically cause less damage on the surface.

While the tremors triggered brief panic among citizens, no significant casualties or losses have been reported so far.
