LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th Apr, 2026) SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry former President Iftikhar Ali Malik Sunday felicitated Chandni Raj Dhaka, a tycoon of Nepal, on assuming the prestigious office of President SAARC chamber for next term.
In a statement issued here, Iftikhar Ali Malik hoped that new leadership will revitalise this important forum and achieve it’s objectives mainly aimed at economic integration and development among all member countries besides removal of unnecessary hurdles and tariff barriers for promoting trilateral trade as South Asia is home to one-fifth of total world population and its contribution to global trade is abysmal.
He said, in prevailing global scenario and emerging alarming situation in the region such platform must be revitalised to promote peace, stability and mutual close cooperation.
He called upon member countries, particularly India, to move beyond rigid postures and contribute positively towards regional peace and cooperation.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said Pakistan is playing historic role in help de-escalation of tension between US-Iran which not only grappled the region but also affected the world economy especially hitting the under developed countries including Pakistan. He urged SAARC member countries to fully support Pakistan’s efforts to defuse the tension in the region.
Malik said, “Pakistan always stands for peace and harmony among all countries but will never ever compromise on its sovereignty, security and solidarity.”
