PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also interior minister, says he had requested the prime minister to permit fans’ entry into the stadium for final match
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 25th, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved allowing spectators to attend the final of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League, Interior Minister and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said on Saturday.
Mohsin Naqvi said that he had requested the prime minister to permit fans’ entry into the stadium for the final match. While the premier supported the idea, he noted that austerity measures are currently in force across the country, particularly to reduce fuel consumption.
He added that, following requests from franchise owners, the prime minister granted special approval to allow spectators for the final.
Earlier, the tournament was scheduled to be held in multiple cities, including Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar, and Faisalabad. However, it was later limited to Karachi and Lahore without spectators as part of the government’s cost-cutting measures introduced in response to global fuel pressures.
In the matches so far, Islamabad United secured a playoff spot with an eight-wicket win at National Bank Stadium. Meanwhile, Peshawar Zalmi remain at the top of the table with eight victories in nine matches.
The final is due on May 3 at Gaddafi Stadium.
