President Zardari also supports Nawaz Sharif on the issue, according to journalist Naeem Ashraf Butt, who quoted the PML-N president as asking whether accepting the demand could lead to their removal from government.
Nawaz Sharif was quoted as saying, “If we accept the demand, could we not then be removed from the government?” Speaking on an ARY news programme, Butt said the report was that some senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members had told Nawaz Sharif that, given the demands concerning the provinces, the performance of some ministers and the failure to improve ordinary people’s economic conditions, the party should implement the demand for dividing the provinces.
Nawaz Sharif reportedly responded that if they accepted all this, they could be removed from the government anyway, adding that it would happen regardless and advising them to focus on their politics and move forward.
Nawaz Sharif is prepared to confront the issue of the provinces, and President Asif Ali Zardari is also with him in this contest.
