SUKKUR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Sep, 2026) District Council Chairman Sukkur, Syed Kumail Hyder Shah, has said that Rohri Railway Station is being upgraded to international standards for Rs 1.27 billion in collaboration with Pakistan Railways and the Sindh government.
Talking to media during his visit to Rohri Railway Station on Friday, he said the Sindh government has already released Rs 400 million to the Railways Department for the project.
He was accompanied by Divisional Superintendent Railways Sukkur Farhan Ghani and Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shahzad. He inspected the ongoing development work at the station.
Shah said that under the upgradation plan, staircases are being replaced and other passenger facilities are being modernized.
He said work is also in progress to replace railway tracks and improve train timings across Pakistan Railways.
He said the recently launched Ho Jamalo Train has provided great relief to the people of Sukkur, adding that it has been decided to operate it as a safari train with two additional coaches for two days a week.
Responding to a question about the political situation, the District Chairman said talk about the Sindh government being sent home is just talk.
He further said that he had heard such things since 2008. The Sindh government is not going anywhere,” he said, adding that, on the contrary, leaders from opposition parties are joining the Pakistan Peoples Party.
He said Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leader Pappu Khan Chachar, who contested against the PPP from Ghotki two years ago, has recently joined the PPP, while several others are also in contact.
PPP is a party of the people. All, he said and added that the opposition parties are panicked by its popularity. There is no room for ethnic politics in Sindh. Our Urdu-speaking brothers are the crown of our heads, he added.
