AJK Agricultural Products Display Centre Opens In States Metropolis

MIRPUR (AJK) , (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news – 17th Sep, 2026) Director Agriculture Extension Azad Jammu and Kashmir Amna Rafi inaugurated a display centre for locally produced agricultural products at Jalalabad Garden in the State metropolis on Thursday.

Amna said the centre would operate on a “no-profit, no-loss” basis, adding that its purpose was not merely to provide a platform for buying and selling agricultural products.

She said the centre aimed to encourage male and female farmers to add value to their raw agricultural produce through quality packaging, proper labelling and attractive presentation, enabling them to convert it into higher-value products.

She said the initiative would help increase the value of local agricultural produce while creating better economic opportunities for farmers and producers.

The Director Agriculture Extension said the centre was also aimed at promoting the culture of value addition among farmers and producers and helping them connect their products with potential buyers and wider markets.

She added that the display centre would create awareness, particularly among urban consumers, that farmers and rural women of Azad Kashmir were not only increasing agricultural production but were also using their skills and capabilities to prepare a variety of local, organic and quality products.

She said the platform would showcase their efforts and products to the public and facilitate their introduction to potential buyers and other relevant stakeholders.

The display centre features a variety of value-added agricultural products prepared by local farmers and under the Lady Extension Wing in different districts of Azad Kashmir, particularly Muzaffarabad, Neelum and Jhelum Valley.

The products include different varieties of jam, pickles and ketchup, Apple preserve, pure honey, lemon and peach squash, maize and millet flour, garlic, indigenous turmeric and chilli, walnuts, local beans, vegetable seeds and other local agricultural and food products.

Names of the respective farmers, contact numbers and other relevant information have also been displayed alongside the products to facilitate their introduction to potential buyers and promote effective market linkages.

At the end, Amna Rafi and other officers thanked the Secretary Agriculture, Livestock, Irrigation and SMEs Azad Kashmir for his guidance and patronage in making the establishment of the display centre possible.

They said the initiative represented an important step towards promoting local agricultural production, value addition and encouraging farmers and producers in Azad Kashmir.
