(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th Sep, 2026) Pakistan Muslim League (N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has nominated Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan for the office of president of Azad State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The party leadership has also instructed Dr Najeeb Naqi to submit his nomination papers to contest the presidential election.
Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said in a statement posted on X that party president Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had decided to nominate Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan.
The party leadership and workers congratulated him on being nominated for the office of president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Najeeb Naqi Khan will now submit his nomination papers for the presidential election.
The PML-N leadership expressed its best wishes to Dr Najeeb Naqi and hoped that he would effectively discharge his constitutional responsibilities.
Party leaders said the nomination had been made in accordance with the decision of the party leadership. The president of Azad Kashmir is elected by members of the Legislative Assembly.
