Petrol price hikes make everything more expensive, while Rs100 per litre relief has been provided under the Prime Minister’s relief scheme, the federal minister said at a press conference.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Sep, 2026) Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Musadik Malik said the common man is being severely affected by increases in petrol prices.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Musadik Malik said the government was aware of the difficulties faced by the people and that petrol prices had increased globally.
He said petroleum product prices had risen across the world because of the war between the United States and Iran.
The federal minister said an increase in petrol prices makes everything more expensive, adding that Rs100 per litre relief had been provided under the Prime Minister’s relief scheme.
He said oil prices were rising and the public would be provided relief to the extent possible.
“Those driving cars worth crores also belong to this country, but the first right belongs to those with small cars,” he said.
Senator Musadik Malik said the Prime Minister had tried to provide relief to poor people first.
He said the levy was Rs80 and the carbon levy was Rs5, while the Prime Minister had provided relief of Rs100.
He said the relief being provided was higher than the tax, adding that the government believed the relief was still insufficient.
“We have carried the burden to the extent our economy could bear,” he said.
The federal minister said the entire world would receive relief once the war ended. He added that the petrol relief scheme had started in Islamabad and would be launched across the country in the next few days.
