Prince Mohammed bin Salman briefed the Saudi Cabinet on his telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while Saudi-led coalition forces vowed a strong response to Houthi attacks.
RIYADH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 15th Sep, 2026) A high-level meeting of the Saudi Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, during which national security, regional tensions and international diplomatic ties were reviewed in detail.
According to media reports, Mohammed bin Salman briefed the Cabinet on his recent important telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and matters of mutual interest.
He also shared details of the progress of his meeting with General Brad Cooper, head of the US Central Command, along with other matters.
The Saudi Cabinet strongly condemned the continued actions by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeting Saudi Arabia’s civilian facilities, air bases and civilians.
The Cabinet made it clear that, under the UN Charter and established principles of international law, Saudi Arabia has the full and legitimate right to defend its territory, citizens and assets.
Meanwhile, Major General Turki Al-Malki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led military coalition fighting in Yemen, issued a strongly worded statement on the Houthi attacks.
He said that targeting civilians and vital facilities exposed the Houthis’ extremist ideology and their deliberate policy of escalating tensions in the region. He added that coalition forces would respond forcefully to the attacks with full responsibility and determination, and that all necessary operational, strategic and defensive measures would be taken immediately to counter the threat posed by the Houthi militia.
The emergency developments came after Houthi forces claimed on Monday that they had attacked Saudi Arabia’s key King Khalid Air Base with ballistic missiles and explosive-laden drones.
According to initial statements by the Saudi military coalition, the multiple ballistic missile and drone attacks left at least 13 civilians injured and partially damaged facilities, increasing military and defensive tensions across the region.
