The government’s relief scheme will not affect our ongoing campaign against the petroleum levy, says the Jamaat-e-Islami emir.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th Sep, 2026) Responding to the prime minister’s scheme concerning petrol prices, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said the government had been forced to provide Rs100 per litre in relief as a result of their struggle.
He said they would review the petrol relief for motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman said the scheme would not affect their ongoing campaign against the petroleum levy. It may be recalled that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to launch a special scheme providing Rs100 per litre relief on petrol.
In a statement, the prime minister said he was fully aware of the burden rising oil prices were placing on the public. He said they were launching a special scheme for motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi vehicles and small cars.
