Rumors about his deteriorating health, irregular blood pressure and mental stress are being spread on social media, along with fake AI-generated images and videos, says the former prime minister’s sister.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th Sep, 2026) Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan, has once again expressed serious concern over her brother’s health and safety at Adiala Jail, leveling serious allegations against the government and jail administration.
In a statement issued on social media, Aleema Khan said Imran Khan’s life currently faces serious threats.
She said he was completely fit and healthy before being placed in solitary confinement in October 2025. However, by the end of December, the vision in one of his eyes had begun to deteriorate. Despite repeatedly informing the jail superintendent, he was not provided access to a doctor for two weeks.
She said a doctor later confirmed that the delay had caused permanent damage to his eye.
She said those monitoring the jail’s CCTV cameras were fully aware of the situation but displayed criminal negligence.
Since the end of July, rumors have been circulating on social media about his deteriorating health, irregular blood pressure and mental stress, while fake images and videos generated through artificial intelligence have also been circulated.
Aleema Khan said Imran Khan had neither lost courage nor backed down from his position despite the hardships, after which this false narrative about his physical and mental health was being created.
Aleema Khan pointed out that on 18th Aug, 2026, the Supreme Court had ordered that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for an independent medical examination in the presence of Dr Uzma Khan and Dr Faisal Sultan.
However, despite the deadline set for 20th Aug, the order has not yet been implemented. She said there was now no option left but to take to the streets peacefully, where two basic demands would be presented.
“Our first demand is that, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s 18th August ruling, Imran Khan be immediately shifted to Shifa International Hospital.
Our second demand is that Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar either immediately provide justice on the bail applications in the Al-Qadir Trust and Toshakhana cases, which have been pending for months, or recuse himself from the case,” she said.
