Strengthening genuine multilateral cooperation in the emerging multipolar world order has become more important than ever, President Vladimir Putin said.
NEW DELHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 12th Sep, 2026) Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that BRICS countries should firmly stand on the right side of history. Addressing the BRICS summit, Xi said China would work with BRICS members for peace in the middle East and the Gulf.
He said the war in the Middle East had caused severe losses to people across the region.
The Chinese president said the war was not in the common interests of the international community.
Xi said the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf was becoming increasingly complex, while the ongoing war was in no way in the common interests of the international community.
He urged BRICS countries to play a more active role in establishing global peace and intensify efforts for the peaceful and diplomatic resolution of conflicts.
He said China was ready to work with other BRICS members to play its role in achieving peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
Describing BRICS as an important force of the Global South, Xi said the organisation should play a more effective role in promoting global peace, development and multilateral cooperation.
The Chinese president announced that China would assume the BRICS chairmanship in 2027 and host the organisation’s 19th summit.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressing the summit, said that the unipolar world order protecting the interests of a limited number of countries was gradually becoming a thing of the past.
Putin said fundamental changes were currently taking place globally in the geopolitical, geoeconomic, technological and social spheres.
He said much was changing in the world, notably including human lifestyles, the level of healthcare and environmental quality.
Putin said the structure of societies and the demographic map of the world were changing, while the unipolar system of international relations serving the interests of a limited number of countries was becoming a thing of the past.
He said the balance of global power was being redistributed in favour of the Global South and new centres of development emerging in the East.
According to the Russian president, an increasing number of countries were clearly and unequivocally expressing their readiness to protect their national interests and participate in resolving global issues.
Putin said strengthening genuine multilateral cooperation in the emerging multipolar world order had become more important than ever.
He said more countries should be included in global governance mechanisms, key international political and economic institutions, and efforts to address serious challenges and threats.
Putin said joint efforts to ensure international peace and stability were also extremely important for achieving global prosperity and public welfare.
