No area should face more than two hours of load shedding, says Shehbaz Sharif, expressing anger over the worsening power outages.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of electricity load shedding in various parts of the country. An important review meeting on power load management was held in Islamabad under the prime minister’s chairmanship.
Expressing anger over the increasing load shedding in various cities, the prime minister directed that all available resources be used effectively so that no area faces more than two hours of load shedding.
He said immediate measures should be taken to address disruptions in RLNG supplies, keeping the regional situation and future requirements in view.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif ordered the establishment of consumer grievance redressal committees at the DISCO level to address public complaints regarding electricity transmission and other issues.
Directing that the grievance committees be made operational within one week, the prime minister said they should also include public representation. The meeting was informed that power generation had declined due to disruptions in RLNG supplies caused by the recent regional situation, tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and transmission difficulties.
The meeting was told that load management had become necessary to maintain a balance between supply and demand.
It was also informed that electricity consumers could register their complaints through helpline number 118. Consumers are also provided with a token number and the expected time for resolution of their complaints.
