Punjab CM’s Controversial Statement Mentioned During Larger Bench Hearing

The Punjab chief minister is neither a party to the petition nor present in court, while the Punjab advocate general condemned the statement against the chief minister regarding the provinces on behalf of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) The controversial statement by the Punjab chief minister was mentioned during a hearing by a larger bench of the Islamabad High Court on a petition filed against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march.

At the outset of his arguments, Punjab Advocate General Barrister Zafarullah said he was a strong supporter of citizens’ freedom and had witnessed shelling in Punjab and police personnel being martyred.

Condemning the Punjab chief minister’s statement regarding the provinces on behalf of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advocate general, the Punjab advocate general said the chief minister was neither a party to the petition nor present in court.

He said the Punjab chief minister was responsible for ensuring the safety of every citizen in his province.

He added that where a criminal conspiracy takes place, the chief secretary and inspector general of the relevant area are responsible. He said the sit-ins had also affected business in Punjab and that processions included cranes.

He stressed that the court was not a political forum but a legal forum.

The Punjab advocate general did not challenge the court’s jurisdiction over the petition and said that whatever directions the court issued would be followed. Later, the Sindh advocate general also completed his arguments, while the Balochistan advocate general presented arguments as well.
