LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 11th Sep, 2026) The Lahore High Court has barred all medical colleges in Punjab from expelling Afghan students and cancelling their examinations. The court remarked that no Afghan medical student would be expelled and no examination paper would be cancelled.
During the hearing of petitions against the expulsion of Afghan medical students, the lawyer for the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) argued that the students did not have valid legal documents.
Justice Khalid Ishaq remarked, “How were educational visas issued when the students were admitted? Four years of their lives have been wasted, and now they are being sent back?”
The court questioned whether the PMDC had received any order on the basis of which the notification was issued.
It remarked that the students should at least have been given an opportunity to be heard before being expelled.
The court further remarked, “When these students were being favoured, it was being publicised around the world; now the policy has changed?” The PMDC lawyer maintained that it was a global principle that no person could stay in a country without a valid visa.
The court remarked, “Until yesterday, these students were favoured, and today the policy has changed.
You might as well give these students the death sentence.”
The court adjourned further proceedings on the petition until next Friday.
