Sources say Mahmood Khan Achakzai will consult PTI Chairman and other leaders on the letter and also take Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas into confidence.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai have been in contact regarding the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and new members of the Election Commission.
According to sources, the prime minister has sent a reply to Achakzai’s letter.
Sources said the prime minister’s letter regarding the new appointments to the Election Commission has been received by the opposition leader.
The sources said the prime minister assured Achakzai that the constitutional procedure would be followed for the new appointments to the Election Commission.
According to sources, Rana Sanaullah and Tariq Fazal Chaudhary had met Mahmood Khan Achakzai and assured him that the prime minister would send a reply to his letter.
Sources said Mahmood Khan Achakzai is in Quetta and will reach Islamabad within the next two or three days.
He will then consult the PTI chairman and other leaders on the prime minister’s letter. Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai will also take Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas into confidence.
